چکیده
Abstract Direct fed microbials (DFM) dietary mixture effects on beef cattle ruminal variables, intake, and apparent total tract digestibility were evaluated. Six ruminally cannulated steers (BW = 520 ± 30 kg) used in a duplicated 3 × Latin square design offered steam-flaked corn-based finishing diet ad libitum for three 28-d periods (21-d adaptation 7-d collection). Treatments assigned were: 1) Control (no DFM mixture; lactose only); 2 3) mixtures at distinct concentrations [Mixture A B, g/animal-daily (lactose as carrier)]. Ruminal pH temperature measured every 6 min (wireless probes). samples collected 0, 2, 4, 8, 16, 23 h post-feeding d28. Feed fecal (collected once twice daily, respectively) composited by period analyzed. Fecal output was estimated with internal marker (288-h indigestible-NDF). Data analyzed using the GLIMMIX procedure of SAS. No treatment time interactions (P ≥ 0.20) observed. Steers mixture-A experienced 300 min/d less 0.04) under 5.6, tended 0.13) lesser area curve while showing greater average (5.67 vs. 5.50), 0.06) (39.2 39.4°C) compared to control. Effects of Plant Herb Combination Supplementation on Rumen Fermentation and Nutrient Digestibility in Beef Cattle
Four rumen-fistulated crossbred beef cattle (Brahman native) were randomly assigned according to a 4×4 Latin square design experiment to be fed plant herb supplements in their concentrate mixture. The treatments were: without herb supplementation (Control), lemongrass meal supplementation at 100 g/d (L), lemongrass meal supplementation at 100 g/d plus peppermint powder at 10 g/d (LP), and lemon...

Effects of different levels of cadmium (0.1, 1, 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 64, 128, 256 mg/l of culture medium) were evaluated using gas production technique. In the glass vials used to measure gas production 30 mg of buffered rumen fluid (2:1 ratio of rumen fluid: buffer) poured in glass and cultured at 38.6 temperature. Volume and pressure of produced gas were measured with syringes and digital pressur...

متن کاملEffect of Propionibacterium spp. on ruminal fermentation, nutrient digestibility, and methane emissions in beef heifers fed a high-forage diet.
The objective of this study was to test the efficacy of different Propionibacterium strains in mitigating methane (CH4) emissions in beef heifers fed a high-forage diet. Twenty ruminally cannulated beef heifers were used in a randomized block design with 28-d periods. Treatments included 1) Control, 2) Propionibacterium acidipropionici strain P169, 3) Propionibacterium acidipropionici strain P5...
متن کاملEffects of bacterial direct-fed microbials on ruminal fermentation, blood variables, and the microbial populations of feedlot cattle.
A study was conducted to determine whether bacterial direct-fed microbials (DFM) could be used to minimize the risk of acidosis in feedlot cattle receiving high concentrate diets. Six ruminally cannulated steers, previously adapted to a high concentrate diet, were used in a double 3 x 3 Latin square to study the effects of DFM on feed intake, ruminal pH, and ruminal and blood characteristics. S...
